High modulus conglomerates

introduction

High modulus conglomerates:
strength and reliability

Vitali S.p.A. SB produces a high modulus conglomerate that is particularly suitable for road pavements in infrastructures characterised by intense vehicular flow. The term “high modulus” derives from the mechanical characteristics of this material, which has greater strength and reliability values than traditional conglomerates.

For the production of the high modulus conglomerate, Vitali S.p.A. SB uses modified bitumens, which, thanks to several additional polymers compared to traditional bitumens improve the thermal susceptibility of the material, raising the softening temperature and lowering the breaking temperature.

Advantages

The advantages of
high modulus conglomerates

High modulus conglomerates are made with the same equipment as traditional conglomerates and are used to make the load-bearing layers (base or binder) of particularly busy roads. The choice of this material allows:

  • the strength of the elastic component to be increased and minimises the risk of deformation of the pavement
  • the resistance to situations of stress to be increased
  • the ageing of materials to be slowed down, ensuring greater longevity of the infrastructure
  • substantial and very frequent loads to be sustained.
