Cortenuova Freight Station: where the logistics of the future are born
Thanks to this infrastructure, goods coming from the ports of Genoa, Trieste and Northern Europe will be able to arrive by train as far as Cortenuova, and then be distributed in a capillary manner through an efficient Last Mile transport network. The construction of the Freight Station will have a significant positive impact on the region. From an environmental point of view, new and large equipped green areas will contribute to the enhancement of the landscape and the quality of local life. In terms of employment, it is estimated that the arrival of new activities will lead to an increase of over a thousand jobs, representing a concrete opportunity for economic development. The project will also have important social spin-offs: a pre- and post-graduate high school is planned, designed to prepare managers and technicians specialised in the management of logistical and industrial processes. Sustainable mobility will be fostered by the creation of new cycle and pedestrian paths, which will connect the area with neighbouring municipalities and with existing infrastructures, such as the Calcio railway station, thus promoting alternative and intermodal forms of transport. The Cortenuova Freight Station is a concrete example of the logistics of the future: efficient, interconnected and sustainable, with a vision of responsible growth for the region.
