Road asphalt
production
Its long-standing experience in the production of high-quality bituminous conglomerates and road asphalt, its continuous drive towards sustainable innovation and its five asphalt production plants confirm Vitali S.p.A. SB as an industry leader. Thanks to in-house laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, Vitali Group technicians select the best raw materials for the production of bituminous conglomerates and cold asphalt such as:
- tout-venant bitumen;
- binder;
- bituminous emulsion in drums or loose;
- bitulight sheet;
- winter gravel in bags or loose.
As an alternative to traditional bitumen, Vitali S.p.A. SB has developed the application of modified bitumens, types of asphalt that due to their technical characteristics are particularly suitable for high-performance road pavements, i.e. exposed to higher than normal thermal or dynamic stresses (such as roads with intense and heavy traffic). In particular, tests conducted by Vitali Group show an increase in five main physical characteristics:
- resistance to compression and tensile strength, at all temperatures
- resistance to persistent and repeated stress, at all temperatures
- resistance to permanent deformation, especially at high and medium temperatures
- resistance to stripping and crumbling, especially at low temperatures
- resistance to ageing
