Milano Alta

Milan Alta: where the city transforms into an urban park

An area, that of pavilions 1 and 2 of the Portello, which thanks to Milano Alta aims to become an innovative pole of attraction by fitting into the recent urban evolution of the Lombard capital.

An operational redevelopment plan made possible by a multidisciplinary task force that will aim to give Portello a new soul while maintaining its identity. Milano Alta intends to make an area of Milan currently peripheral attractive with a project of international scope, which finds inspiration in the great urban parks around the world, elevating the value of people, representing a source of attractiveness at the tourist level for the city and generating employment, welfare and new services for the inhabitants of the area. In the new hub it is planned to introduce 7 pathways, 7 areas related to technological innovation; entertainment and culture; cuisine and food thanks to a food court, stores with km0 products, a center for the promotion of food sciences and spaces for showcooking; wellness and sports thanks to the idea of a city of wellness where one can do rehabilitation, medical examinations, practice sports and test sports products; and a fashion & design center. There will be no lack of tourism-related characterization: in fact, the project includes the creation of an accommodation facility that will house 350 rooms, with also conference functions synergistic with the existing activities of Fiera and Mi.Co.

Experia

Urban regeneration in the former EXPO 2015 area

EXPERIA is the proposal developed by Gruppo Vitali to respond to Arexpo's call for proposals for the conception, development and management of an “urban regeneration” project for the Former Expo 2015 Area. The proposal was developed using an international design team.

The concept was developed by the international Studio Hok, while Progetto CMR by Arch. Massimo Roj translated the guidelines into the overall master plan. The EXPERIA project aims to experiment with the city of the future, to imagine an urban perspective in which “smart” components shape the face of the city. EXPERIA is proposed as one of the possible future identities of Milan and its metropolitan area, with research and innovation, environmental sustainability and internationality on the horizon. EXPERIA, moreover, has been conceived as an open place, a cultural center thanks to its theaters and arenas, a functional city adequate to the well-being of those who will work there, live there or simply decide to spend time there.

Bergamo Porta Sud

Porta Sud: a new smart district for Bergamo

The proposed Project involves the redevelopment and enhancement of a large urban area in the City of Bergamo of more than one million square meters straddling the railway axis and the urban railway station.

The project intervention will see as a unified element the overcoming of the barrier of the railway axis (now a divisive element of the city) and the organic reconnection of the part of the city south of the railway axis with the Piacenza center. The road layout will be improved and integrated, creating more effective and rapid connections between the different transport systems present, and the planivolumetric scheme of the areas will be redesigned by subdividing and distributing the lots and functional destinations in an organic and integrated way so as to enhance the areas and create urban areas of high quality. With the advent of the third millennium, cities around the world have become the subject of special attention and study, so much so that this era has been called “the century of cities.” Within this global scenario, which recognizes a new and dominant role for the most urbanized realities, the city of Bergamo has accepted the challenge of change and transformation from a smart city perspective. Therefore, the main objective will be to improve the lives of citizens, managing to reconcile and meet their needs with those of businesses and institutions in the fields of technology, mobility, environment and energy efficiency.

Hennebique H49

Hennebique, urban regeneration in the port of Genoa

The Hennebique building plays a strategic role for the city of Genoa and for the entire waterfront system that runs from the area occupied by Fiera Levante up to the ferry and cruise ship boarding bridges.

The proposal envisions the enhancement of the building artifact through actions that will allow the development of a functional program that can give Hennebique a leading role. Architecturally, the design intentions are to make the basement permeable, recreate internal courtyards to allow for the internal distribution and consequent illumination of the new functions, and the creation of a new volume on the roof that would allow for the enjoyment of the characteristic surrounding landscape. The proposal therefore aims to clearly state its actions, which are always in respect of the nature of the building and in the clear definition of its metamorphosis, that is, its new life so that it becomes a new urban centrality between the city and the sea.

Accademia Carrara

Accademia Carrara: new life for a historic building

Completed in early 2019 the renovation work on the Barchessa di Destra of the Carrara Academy (now the Vitali Wing).

This is a technical sponsorship: the Vitali Spa Group has in fact offered the Carrara Foundation and the City of Bergamo, owner of the building, the opportunity to refurbish the right barchessa. The offer was approved by the Foundation and the project was positively evaluated by the Superintendence. This completes the renovation of the entire complex of Bergamo’s prestigious picture gallery, which reopened in April 2015 after a laborious and lengthy restoration project. Thanks to the restoration work carried out by the Vitali Group, it has been possible to equip the museum with a flexible space on two floors, capable of meeting the museum’s needs: the right barchessa will be able to host temporary exhibitions as well as conferences and meetings with a capacity of up to one hundred people.

Logistics hub

A new strategic logistics hub on the A4 highway

The development originates in the municipality of Isola Vicentina, a locality located about 10 km north of Vicenza, which is well connected to the primary road system via the SS 349 and via the A31 Raccordo Vicenza - Piovene that connect on the A4.

The intervention is inherent to the construction of a warehouse of about 20,000 sq m, of which about 5,000 sq m will consist of the recovery of a portion of an existing building. The office building and basement areas that exist today will also be recovered, which will be used for parking for a total of about 1,500 square meters that will be used by employees, as well as a basement warehouse of about 5,000 square meters.

The warehouse will mainly house DHL’s logistics activities and will have basically standard equipment with loading bays, NFPA sprinkler system, 200 kw photovoltaic system, external bardage (performance facade panels) and LED lighting. The new DHL development is located on a portion of an area of about 45,000 square meters that used to house a housing complex: an old brick kiln.

Next to the lot under development DHL already occupies a property of about 25,000 sq m. This creates a logistics HUB of more than 45,000 square meters. Total employees employed are estimated at about 110 people of whom 80 percent are women and 20 percent are men. Warehousing will be managed at multiple levels and there will be a major part dedicated to packaging.

Wine Logistic Platform

Logistics supporting port activities

The operation involved the construction of a logistics warehouse of c.a. 10,000 sq.m. inside the Collesalvetti interport, located about 7 kilometers from the port of Livorno, in an area with high accessibility characterized by the presence of important services for transport intermodality.

The logistics building, built for the company Giorgio Gori srl, consists of a large warehouse space for the storage of fine wines and spirits, as well as office space, dressing rooms and related service spaces. The construction of the work was particularly challenging from an engineering point of view because the entire interport is located in an area where, in the past, there were marshy areas, now reclaimed.

Preliminary soil consolidation work, which involved the construction of hundreds of subfoundation piles using the jet grouting technique, turned out to be of fundamental importance; on the soil thus perfectly stabilized it was possible to construct the building.
